SECRET SARAYAKU – INTERACTIVE PLATFORM

This is the story of an indigenous Kichwa people who became a cyber activist in the fight to protect their jungle.

In this story on an interactive web platform , audiovisual storyteller Misha Vallejo Prut (@mishavallejo) transports us to the Ecuadorian Amazon rainforest where he spent years documenting the daily life of the Kichwa people of Sarayaku.

The Kichwa people believe in the Kawsak Sacha, or Living Forest: the idea that the jungle is a living, conscious, rights-bearing entity in which all elements are alive, have spirit, and are interconnected. “If one aspect of this is damaged, it will set off a chain reaction that affects all other parts of the jungle.”
